Welcome to Subiaco Pétanque club where you can try bowling the French way.

Pétanque is a form of boules where the goal is to throw metal balls (boules) as close as possible to a jack (a small wooden ball called a cochonnet in French, which means piglet). The game is normally played on hard sand or gravel. Similar games are bocce and bowls. Pétanque is generally associated with southern France, particularly Provence. Pétanque is the most played sport in France.

Pétanque is suitable for all ages and is the ideal sport for families.

 The Subiaco Pétanque Club is a community run sporting club offering fun, friendship and personal challenges for all members of our community. We have been around for over 10 years and are the largest club in Western Australia.

Pétanque is a unique sport in that it can be played by nearly all ages and physical abilities/disabilities at the same time. It can also be a game that can be played at everyone's convenience as we play all year round and team committal is far from mandatory.

We are also affiliated with the Western Australian Pétanque League so if the desire to get more competitive is there we can accommodate that as well.

Pétanque is played all around the world and is also very popular state-wide and nationally. All visitors are made to feel welcome, our members will be only too happy to give you a few tips, plus we have plenty of spare equipment for you too, just bring yourself along and have a go. Hope you can join us.

 We play on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons from 2 pm.

New members are welcome and friendly and expert tuition is available. Boule will be provided, and there are experienced players to explain how the game is played. It is not necessary to speak French.
