FROM THE PRESIDENT
Many thanks to all those members, including our associates, who paid their
fees so promptly for the 2013 2014 year. Paying quickly makes our Treasurer
John Rowe’s job a little easier. A reminder that all full members now have a
National licence and can play in the Doubles to be held at Rockingham in
November this year. For those planning ahead the State Doubles will be at
Rockingham on September 7 and 8 and will provide an opportunity to fine tune
your team for the Nationals. What a way to celebrate an election by playing in
this prestigious competition.
PRESIDENT’S TROPHY 2012 – 2013
Congratulations to Joe Corcoran junior for being the winner of this year’s
Presidents Trophy in a tight finish with last year’s winner Guy Soubeyran. The
top six this year in order was Joe A Corcoran, Guy Soubeyran, John Exeter,
David Comb, Celia Lifschitz and Sue Dauth. This year competition is well under
way with the first 2 rounds completed already and a number of members racking
up the points. Remember you need to play a minimum of 15 games to feature in
the final calculations.
SUBIACO CLOCHMERLE CHALLENGE
This annual event was played on Saturday 31st August at The Mechanics

last year and where trounced well and truly by Clochemerle.
IN THE NEWS
Special thanks to Thelma Dry our club, or is it cub, reporter who is writing
a weekly column in the "Post" which is the community paper for the area. It’s
encouraging to see the club news being advertised to members and the wider
community. A number of members have reported positive comments on her

GEM MARKETING VISIT
The committee would like to thank the volunteers who came and helped the 60
visitors from Gem Marketing who came on August 17th to try our sport.
CAMBODIAN PETANQUE CLUB
Our boat pulled up for the night right next to it but unfortunately nobody
was playing as it was midweek. The kids are clearing out the debris from
